Hi! My name is Anika, I am second year journalism student at Thompson Rivers University. I am originally from Okotoks, Alberta where I moved to Kamloops last fall. In Okotoks I played elite hockey where I had the opportunity to travel to places such as Toronto and Nashville. I enjoy hiking and spending time with friends in my free time. I decided to major in journalism because I believe impactful changes can be made through genuine conversations with friends, colleagues and strangers. My favorite thing about studying journalism is the connections and life experiences I gain. Becoming a journalist has pushed me out of my comfort zone and has opened different paths for me, I am grateful for how much I’ve grown so far in my studies. After I graduate my goal is to travel and write journalistic entry’s about peoples lives who don’t have the chance to use their own voice for issues they are passionate about. During my last few years at school I plan to excel in my classes and make long lasting relationships with the people around me.
